What Is Soda Fired Pottery?
Soda-firing is glazing-on-the-go. Raw clay is heated to over 2000°F in a kiln, then bombarded with volatized sodium. The sodium mingles with the silica in the raw clay, causing the silica to melt into a glass on the surface of the pot.
