Small Bowl

Soda-fired porcelain with cobalt wash. When this piece was glowing hot in the kiln, I introduced sodium carbonate into the atmosphere. This soda vaporized and bonded with the hot clay to form a glaze. The cobalt reacted differently on each side of this bowl, fading here and darkening there, speckling on this side and dripping on the other.

This vessel is food-safe. I recommend it be hand-washed, and kept out of the microwave to maximize its longevity. It contains no known toxic materials.
